Our Practice

Approach

At AMITIS, we believe meaningful architecture is the result of thoughtful collaboration. By bringing together clients with our project partners, we design homes that balance creative ambition with practical understanding, reflecting the aspirations of the people who live within them.

Design Ethos

Our design ethos is grounded in an understanding of people and place, respect for architectural character and an appreciation of how spaces shape everyday life. Through a considered approach to form, materiality and the relationship between spaces, we design homes that feel distinctly yours, belong to their place and endure over time.

Meet the people behind AMITIS

Behind every home are the people, ideas and relationships that bring it to life.

Both raised in Brisbane's inner northern suburbs, co-founders Isabella Meland and Daylan Isai share an appreciation for the Queenslander homes, established neighbourhoods and local communities that give their city its distinctive character.

Bringing together architectural expertise and business leadership, they founded AMITIS to shape both the homes we design and the experience of designing them.

Isabella Meland

Co-founder | Registered Architect BOAQ 5573 | M.Arch, B. DES

A childhood spent in her family's 1920s Queenslander in Ashgrove gave Isabella an early appreciation for architectural character and craftsmanship. Surrounded by a family of builders, she grew up experiencing renovations at home and spending school holidays visiting her father's construction sites, providing an early introduction to the relationship between design and construction.

With over a decade in practice, Isabella's approach to architecture combines design creativity, interior design expertise and a detailed understanding of construction. She balances creative ambition with practical knowledge, from spatial planning and materiality to the finer details that shape how a home is experienced.

Known for her calm and collaborative manner, Isabella takes the time to understand how people live and what matters to them, creating an environment where ideas can be openly explored and individual aspirations shape the design.

Isabella is a registered architect in Queensland and holds a Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Design (Architecture), with a minor in Interior Design and Town Planning, from Queensland University of Technology.

Daylan Isai
